For families and the professionals who care
An assistant on glasses and phone that helps people with Alzheimer's recognize the people they love, remember what matters and ask for help when they need it.
Daily life of caregivers
Not recognizing a son, a brother or the caregiver causes fear and embarrassment on both sides.
Skipped or repeated doses, and the doubt: “did she already take it?”.
Calls from strangers pretending to be relatives, banks or hospitals.
Minutes make a difference, and the person cannot always ask for help.
Doctor, nurses and family write things down in different places; nobody has the full picture.
Remembering everything, for everyone, all the time.
The idea
HeyCyan W630 glasses take the photo and play the app's voice, like headphones.
Without the glasses, the phone camera and speaker do the same job.
Just say “Who?”, “Call Mary” or “Help”.
Recognizing people
Press the glasses button, tap “Who is it?” or say “Who”.
The glasses (or the phone) take a photo of the person in front.
The phone compares the face with the people the family registered.
The answer plays in the ear, with the name and the relationship.
Introducing someone
Reminders
Calls
Unknown and hidden numbers are rejected. The phone shows a “call blocked” notice with the number and time, for the family to check.
“Call Mary” and the app calls on the speaker, no need to hold the phone. Name and nickname both work.
“You already called Mary today at 2:20 PM. Do you want to call again?” The person answers yes or no.
Doctor, pharmacy and bank also need to be registered to get through. The filter requires Android 10 or later.
Falls and requests for help
The phone sensor notices a fall, the person says “Help” (voice command on) or taps Ask for help.
“Are you okay?” There are a few seconds to say “I'm fine” and cancel.
Emergency contacts get an SMS with the name, the time and a location link.
The app calls the first emergency contact.
Fall detection is an estimate: a dropped phone also starts the countdown, and slow falls may go unnoticed. It does not replace a medical device.
Medical record
Allergies, conditions, current medications, blood type, health insurance, public health card and primary doctor. Shows who updated it and when.
Consultation, progress note, vital signs (BP, HR, temperature, glucose, SpO₂, weight), medication, test and incident.
What changes for each person
Family
Registers the people, the reminders and the emergency contacts. Gets fall and help alerts by SMS.
Doctors and nurses
Record consultations, progress and vital signs, signed with name and license. Check allergies and medications on the health sheet.
Caregivers
Write down incidents and medications during their shift, check reminders and introduce themselves so the app knows them.
And the person with Alzheimer's gains independence: asking, calling and getting help just by speaking.
Privacy and consent
Getting started
Install the app, connect the glasses and accept the permissions.
Register everyone close: 3 to 5 sharp photos, phone and relationship.
Mark the emergency contacts and turn on fall detection.
Add the week's medicines, appointments and visits.
Fill in the health sheet and set the PIN.
Finally, enter the person's name and nickname, turn on the voice command and practice together: “Who is it?”, “Call…”, “I'm fine”.
In all honesty
Dim light, a face turned aside or few training photos reduce accuracy. More photos help.
In noisy places the command fails; on some phones the recognizer beeps every time it listens.
With the glasses, each photo takes 2 to 6 seconds to reach the phone.
There is no sync between phones yet: whoever writes uses the person's phone.
There may be false alarms or falls without an alert. It does not replace supervision or a medical device.
Needs battery, permissions and, for the call filter, Android 10 or later.
Next steps
We would like to follow a few families during a trial period and hear what works, what is missing and what needs to change.
